Interesting blog, thanks for sharing. I am a bit confused by some of your early statements that seem to say “there was no scheduler before Kubernetes” and even seem to imply that scheduler is brand new paradigm started with Borg -maybe I read that totally wrong-. The grid computing and high performance computing community have written and used cluster schedulers for many many years. A system like Condor HTC https://research.cs.wisc.edu/htcondor/ is over 30 years old. Still runs all across the world, and runs multiple type of workloads. Scheduling in general is a very big field of computer science that goes way beyond cluster management.
